HAUGHTON, Maxine Joan
Maxine Joan Haughton, 47, of Bloomfield, was called home to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, (July 17, 2013). Born in Kingston, Jamaica daughter of Franklin Haughton and Burzella Haughton of Bloomfield, Maxine immigrated to the US from Jamaica in 1972. She graduated from Bloomfield High School and continued her education at the University of Connecticut where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work. She worked as a lead analyst at the State of Connecticut, Department of Income Maintenance in Hartford for 23 years. She leaves to cherish her memories her parents, Franklin Haughton and Burzella Haughton; three sisters, June, Pauline and Janet; a sister-in-law, Denise; four brothers, Delroy, Dennis, Anthony and Bruce; two brothers-in-law, Wilbert and Lloyd; eight nieces, Ann-Marie, Marshella, Tracy, Bianca, Keri-Ann, Courtney, Shanelle and Kissena; seven nephews, Shawn, Omar, Cory, DeAndre, DeVaughn, Darius and Daniel; five great nieces; a great-nephew; one aunt, one uncle, cousins, friends and a special friend Anthony. Maxine was a bright and gifted person. She received several scholastic awards and throughout her life. Maxine was focused in her search for knowledge. The characteristic of her generous nature was evident in her involvement with her family as she continually guided and helped her nieces and nephews. Maxine has touched and changed the life of each person she met throughout her lifetime, with her kind words and thoughtfulness. She always looked for the good in people. She was a very caring and loving person, who was always surrounded by many friends and family who loved and cherished her. Maxine will remain forever in the hearts and minds of those left behind.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, July 26, 6-9 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 27, 10 a.m. at St. Justin Church, 230 Blue Hills Ave., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. To the Haughton Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I went to High School with Maxine and I remember her being so sweet and easy to talk to. She had such a gentle spirit about her. I am truly saddened to hear of her passing. I Pray that God will comfort you all during this difficult time.

I have nothing but fond memories of this very special lady. Her soft voice and pleasant ways still lingers with me today, more than 30 years after meeting the Haughton family. So sad to hear of your illness and your passing. This is so sad!
