May WHITE Obituary

WHITE, May G.

May G. White, a loving wife to the late Richard C. White II, was gently carried by the angels to heaven on Tuesday evening. She was a lifelong resident of Granby who shared 90 full years of love and laughter with her family and friends. Born on July 28, 1923, daughter of the late Charles Messenger and Caroline (Luther) Messenger, May married Richard in 1951 and the young couple was blessed with two sons. After his sudden passing in 1955, May supported her family working as an electronics technician at Hamilton Standard (UTC). Her 32-year long career in aerospace technology was rewarding and full of excitement. One proud achievement in her career was her personal contribution to the air flow components of the Apollo 13 Mission suits. She enjoyed bowling on the company league, playing cards and socializing at parties, and volunteering with the Lost Acres Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. May was an avid sports fan who cheered primarily for the UConn Ladies basketball and NY Yankee baseball teams. She was a generous lady who cared deeply for the welfare of others and over the years invited many individuals seeking a better situation a place to stay in her home. Her memory is forever cherished by her sons, Rick White and his wife Debra of Broad Brook and Daniel White and his wife Sarah of Farmington; three grandchildren, Jason White and his wife Kristen, Michael White, and Caroline White; two great-grandchildren, Tim & Matthew Molinari; and a brother, Levester Messenger of Parsonfield, Maine. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Eva Holcombe, Linda Thomas, and Esther Parmalee. The White family wishes to extend sincere thanks and gratitude to the staffs of Meadowbrook of Granby and the Virginia Connelly Residence in Simsbury for the loving support and care they provided to May over the past several years.
Her funeral service will be held at Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home, 1816 Poquonock Avenue in the Poquonock section of Windsor on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. with burial following in Granby Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday evening from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9-9:30 a.m. prior to the service in the Carmon Poquonock Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. To send notes of condolence to her family, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.

To the White Family, Sorry for your loss, Your mom was a great friend of mine during her days at Hamilton. We use to bowl on Tuesday nights and my team would always look forward to bowling with her. She was just a fun person to be around especially at work. If you were having a tough day you just needed to find May for a quick smile and a hearty laugh.
