Michael C. Smith

1970 - 2013

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the unexpected passing of Michael Charles Smith, beloved son of Patricia and the late Charles Smith, on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in Scranton, PA. Born in Manchester, CT, on February 3, 1970, Michael lived the majority of his life in South Windsor graduating from South Windsor High School in 1988. He recently lived in Ellington and Hartford. He worked as a long distance driver for Federal Express in Willington. A loving father, son, brother and uncle, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Elizabeth Neff of Tolland, his mother Patricia of South Windsor, Sisters Lori Stewart and her husband Bruce of South Windsor, Lisa Bowden and her husband Bob of Tolland, and Robin Lagasse and her husband Paul of South Windsor. He also leaves behind nine nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed family gatherings, always being the "fun" uncle; Nick and Sam Stewart, Mackenzie, Luke and Casey Bowden, and Jacob, Charlie, Maya, and Eve Lagasse. He also leaves behind many good friends including Bob Bowman and his best buddy, Rocky, and a host of aunts and uncles. Michael was a quiet, gentle soul who would always answer a request for help. He loved his job, his friends, and his motorcycles, but his greatest joy was spending time at his sisters' houses with his nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Keith Herzig, Mike's boss, for all of his compassion and support in this difficult time. His family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2013, from 3-6 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A Memorial Service will follow at the funeral home at 6 p.m. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
