WEBER, Muriel N.
Muriel N. Weber of Geer Village, Canaan, formerly of Winsted, died Sunday, (October 20, 2013), at Geer Village. She was the widow of Emil A. Weber who died in 2004. Born July 27, 1923 in Hamden, CT, daughter of the late Robert L. and Alma J. (Jente) Noble, she was a graduate of the The Gilbert School and Syracuse University. She received her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Hartford and was a teacher at Hinsdale School in Winsted from 1964 to 1980. A member of the Second Congregational Church for more than 74 years, she had served in many capacities including member in the Diaconate. She had been a Red Cross volunteer and was active in public relations in the Winsted Chapter before it joined with the Hartford Chapter. She had also served as a hospice volunteer with the Foothills Visiting Nurse. She is survived by a daughter, Janice and her husband Thomas Scarey of Hurley, NY; two sons, Jonathan W. and his wife Suzanne of Torrington and Robert E. and his fiance Margaret Anderson of Winsted; four grandchildren, Alison (Weber) Keller and her husband Andrew of Easthampton, MA, Johathan Weber and his wife Andrea of Southington, Patrick Weber of Enfield, and Thomas J. W. Scarey of Portland, OR; one great-grandchild, Estelle Keller; a sister, Rhoda N. Bayley of Framingham, MA; three nieces and five nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 11 a.m. at the Second Congregational Church of Winsted, 800 Main Street with the Rev. James DiQuattro officiating. There are no calling hours. The Maloney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Second Congregational Church Memorial Fund or to the Friends of Main Street, 398 Main Street, Winsted, 06098.
