ERICKSON, Nils A.

Nils A. Erickson, 91, of New Britain, husband of Anne (Bator) Erickson, passed away Wednesday (October 9, 2013) at Walnut Hill Care Center in New Britain. Born in Sunne, Sweden, he lived in New Britain most of his life. Nils was a graduate of E.C. Goodwin Technical School and was a former POW serving is the US Army during World War II. He worked at the former Carling Switch, now Carling Technology in Plainville as a Tool & Die Maker for 25 years, retiring in 1987. Nils was a member of St. Joseph's Church in New Britain; New Britain VFW Post 511; The AARP Chapter in Newington; and was a former member of the Stanley Men's Club at Stanley Golf Course. Besides his wife Anne, he leaves two sons, Gregory Erickson and his wife Mary Ann of South Windsor; and Christopher Erickson and his wife Joan of Edgecomb, Maine; a brother, Gustav Erickson and his wife Monica of Avon; a sister, Eleanor Anderson of New Britain; four grandchildren, Jessica Halpin and her husband Christopher of Newburyport, MA; Cynthia White and her husband David of Windham, Maine; Mary McMorrow and her husband Aaron of Cumberland, Maine; and Doctor Jason Erickson and his wife Michelle of Coopersburg, PA; five great grandchildren, Liam Halpin, Isabelle Erickson, Audrey McMorrow, Mia and Nathan White; several nieces and nephews. Nils was predeceased by a brother, Carl Erickson and a brother-in-law, Bernt Anderson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain, CT 06051. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday morning from 8-9 a.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church.
