Panagiota Bikakis

Panagiota Bikakis, 100, of Hartford, died peacefully, with family at her side on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late George Bikakis. Born and raised in Saga, Tripoli, Arkadia, Greece, she came to the United States in 1975 with her husband, and upon his retirement, they moved back home to Greece. When her husband died in 1998, Panagiota returned to live permanently with her family here in the U.S. and was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Hartford. Devoted to her family, she loved to cook for them, and especially treasured the time spent caring for her grandchildren. She was sweet and generous and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves five children, Dino Bikakis and his wife Eustathia of Berlin, Aggeliki Topintzis and her husband Michael, and Stauroula Delis and her husband George, all of Hartford, Michael Bikakis and his wife Euaggelia of Wethersfield, and Jason Bikakis and his wife Paraskevi of Berlin; 13 grandchildren, George K. Bikakis, Panagiotis Bikakis and his wife Maryam, all of Berlin, Fanoula Eliadis and her husband Nestoras of Boston, Nikolaos Topintzis and his wife Francine of Syracuse, NY, George Topintzis and his wife Mehwa of Berlin, Aristides Delis and his wife Stamatia of Bristol, Vasilis Delis and his wife Lina of Wethersfield, Panagiotis Delis of Hartford, George M. Bikakis and his wife Corrine, and John Bikakis and his wife Georgia, all of Newington, Panagiota Perlegos and her husband John in CA, and George J. Bikakis and Vasilis Bikakis, both of Berlin; and 15 great grandchildren. She also leaves many loving nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by two brothers Theoharis and Demosthenes Giannakopoulos. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Rev. Fr. George Zugravu will have a Trisagion Service on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She will return home to Greece for her funeral service and to be laid to rest with her husband George.
