FOX, Patricia (Comins)
Patricia (Comins) Fox, 86, of Manchester, beloved wife and best friend of the late Julius Garvey Fox, died peacefully, Friday, (June 21, 2013) at her home. She was born March 7, 1927 in Rockville, daughter of the late James & Claire (Hannon) Comins and had been a resident of Manchester for over 80 years. Pat was an active dedicated member of the Unitarian Universalist Society East for at least 45 years. At the Meetinghouse she was highly involved in numerous committees, programs and benefits. Pat's personal foundation was based on the first UU Principle, which is 'The Inherent Worth and Dignity Of Every Person.' Pat graduated as an RN from the UCONN School of Nursing, and was active as an RN for over 50 years. Her work encompassed many years working at various hospitals for the State of Connecticut, also at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Glastonbury Health Care Center. She was a passionate lover of nature, history, art, live music, Broadway, local theater, dancing, an avid reader and knitter. Tennis, hiking, skiing, bicycling, swimming and body surfing were some of the sports she participated in. Pat held a special place in her heart for their 'Summer Shack' in Rhode Island and also enjoyed camping all around America, along with picnics, parties and adventures with her family and friends. All her international travels added spice to her being. Above all, Pat put her family first. Prudence, perseverance and love guided her as she raised her extended family. James Fox, her son, also Betsy Fox Daigle and Sheila Fox, her daughters, survive Pat. She also leaves two stepsons, Colin Fox and William Fox. In addition to her husband, Pat also was predeceased by a son Daniel Hannon Fox and a stepson Garvey Fox. Leala Daigle, her granddaughter, Julian Fox, her grandson, and Rayne Beck her great-granddaughter, were her jewels. David Hannon Comins, her brother a native from Manchester, and his family also survived Pat. She was fortunate to share joy with many step grand and great grandchildren. Pat has loved many and has been loved by many. Grá

I remember Mrs. Fox as one of the best neighborhood mothers, whenever a bunch of us Manchester kids would show up at the backdoor, there was always a smile and cold water to drink.
I am so sorry to hear of her passing.

Betsy, my old friend. I am so very sorry about the loss of your mother; she was an absolute ladyslipper among the weeds of the world. I know you and your family will miss her. Thanks for reminding me of the solstice celebration with her when my hair caught on fire. I laughed about that the rest of the day and I felt Pat laughing with me.

this is a lovely tribute to her. she was the only aunt i had, and a beloved one. she will be missed by anyone whose life she touched. she was the first working mother i ever knew, but as busy as she was she alway had time to bring us to the beach, take us to the movies, even take us to the world's fair. We even shared a trip to Ireland in 2000. Now she and my mother can resume their regular Saturday night movie dates.
