MARCHAND, Paul L.
Paul Louis Marchand, 70, of South Windham was taken from us too soon on Wednesday, (June 12, 2013) after fighting a lengthy illness. Paul was born on October 4, 1942 to the late Omer and Antoinette (Daigle) Marchand in Willimantic. He retired in 2004 from SNET after 38 years of service. Paul served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of Vietnam. Paul was also a member of the French-Canadian Genealogical Society and the Polish Genealogical Society. Paul will forever be missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Carolyn, along with his children, Paul L. Marchand II and his wife Kelly of Middletown, CT, Paula Clyborne and her husband Bob of Deephaven, MN, Jamie Lenane and her husband Brian of Whitman, MA and Michael Marchand and his wife Melanie of Oak Bluffs, MA. In addition, he also leaves 11 grandchildren, Cailin, Brennan, Coleman, Kyle, Matthew, Michael, Katie, Kelsey, Ali, Abby and Andrew. Paul is also survived by his brother, Norman Marchand and his wife Mary, his sisters Theresa Fournier and her husband Gilbert and Jeanne Marchand-Massey and her husband Don along with a dear sister-in-law Nancy Marchand. His brother, Robert Marchand, predeceased him. Several cousins, nieces and nephews, along with a group of very special friends are also left behind. Paul enjoyed his retirement years by traveling extensively with his family and friends. He spent the winter months in Venice, FL with his wife, as well as his children and grandchildren who came to visit. The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp was a special place for Paul; he spent many hours there volunteering his time to help others. Paul's other passion was spending as much time as he and Carolyn could visiting with his children and grandchildren, cheering them on in their various activities or just being there to give them a big hug and an "I love you."
His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday June 14, 2013 between 4-7 pm at Potter Funeral Home 456 Jackson St. (Rte. 195) Willimantic. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Joseph Church, 99 Jackson St. Willimantic, with assembly at the church. Private interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Paul's memory to The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp, 555 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven, CT 06511. Dear Marchand family,
I worked with Paul out of the Willimantic central office for 4 years. Great character and work ethic, and no one better in the switch. He was always there to lend a hand and always had everyone's back. My family and I will keep Paul and his family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

It saddens me greatly to hear of Paul's passing. He was one of "SNET's" finest. We worked together in Engineering years ago where he was an invaluable asset. I heard so many wonderful stories about his family. Family was always Paul's top priority. Paul was a model for all of us to try to emulate with his wonderful sense of humor and caring nature.
