FELTON, Rebecca "Sweet"
Rebecca "Sweet" Felton, 79, of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Edward Kirkland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (July 24, 2013) in West Hartford. Born in Darlington, SC on November 25, 1933, daughter of the late Woodrow, Sr. and Pauline (Alston) Wilson, she was raised in Winston-Salem, NC and had lived in Meriden before moving to Hartford in 1965. Rebecca started her career at The Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford and later worked at the Aetna Insurance Company as a senior accounting clerk for many years before her retirement. She leaves to mourn her passing four sons, Neil P. Green of Hartford, Edward L. Kirkland and Monique Santos of Middletown, Mark C. Kirkland and his wife Tanya Coleman of Hartford, and Corey M. Kirkland and Deanna Ferguson of Hartford; a daughter, Shawna Kirkland of Manchester; a brother, Woodrow Wilson, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; four sisters, Leila Edgefield of Winston-Salem, NC, Elizabeth Wilson-Dawson and husband Willard of GA, Sabrina Wilson of Maryland, and Anitra Wilson of NC; 20 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. She was predeceased by two sons, Herman and William Green; a daughter, Nina Rebecca Felton; a sister, Dorothy Mae Davis; and two great grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 11 a.m. - 12 Noon, followed by a Homegoing Service, 12 Noon, at Bible Way Temple Nation, 3053 Main St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt.
