Rena Lenge Obituary

Rena (Tonino) Lenge, 89, of West Hartford and Niantic, beloved wife of the late Albert A. Lenge, died on January 20, 2014. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late Desiderio and Rose (Lazzerini) Tonino, she lived in West Hartford most of her life and enjoyed close to sixty years of marriage with her husband Al. Rena was employed by The Hartford Courant in the advertising department and her husband's business Maico Hearing Services. Her greatest joy was being with her children and grandchildren. Countless memories were shared at family gatherings and especially fun summer times at their beach home. Rena loved to swim, dance, paint and play bridge. She was a member of the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, West Hartford Art League, Hartford Bridge Club, American Contract Bridge League, Helen Flanagan Dancers and an active member with her Hartford Public High School Class Reunion Committee "43" where she kept up with high school pals. Rena and Al moved to The McAuley in 2003 and shared many happy times there with new and old friends. This past year Rena lived at St. Mary Home and was given exceptional care from the caregivers and nurses of West Wing 1. The family is grateful for making her time there happy and peaceful. Her children are also most grateful to Ania Tonino who daily attended to Rena as her friend and personal caregiver. She brought with her an enthusiasm and love that made Rena's life richer in every way. Rena is survived by her son Albert P. Lenge, Esq. and his wife Denise and their children Leanne Lenge Nolan (husband) Patrick and their son Benjamin, Chelsea Lenge Warren (husband) Phineas and their son Kai Matthias and Matthew Lenge; daughter Marguerite Lenge Weaver and her husband James and their children, Gregory Weaver, Esq. (wife) Catherine and their children Van and Holly, Carolyn Weaver Johnson (husband) Drew and Julie Weaver; her daughter Elizabeth Lenge Keenan and her husband William, Esq. and their children Jeffrey and Sandra and many special nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in the Church of Saint Peter Claver, 47 Pleasant Street, West Hartford. Burial service will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Art Therapy Program at St. Mary Home c/o Kara Tosen, 2021 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117. I will miss Rena's smile and enthusiasm . Whenever she came in contact with you it was a smile, a laugh, a memory shared. Her eyes twinkled. She was so positive, and always interested in how others were doing first. Rena and Al, had that spark for life that is impossible to duplicate. I am so sorry for your loss and pain. May the memories of everyday living sustain you all in your time of sorrow. I will never forget her kindness and love, nor your Dad's.

On behalf of President/Chief Administrator David Eustis and the entire Northwest Catholic High School community, I offer my deepest sympathy on the passing of Rena Lenge.

Because her children, Albert Lenge '67 and Marguerite Lenge Weaver '69, and her sons-in-law, James Weaver '68 and William Keenan '69, are cherished members of our school family, we feel that Rena was, too, and we mourn her death along with all those who love her.

Please know that we are holding all of Rena's family very close to our hearts this week, and that we will include Rena on the prayer list at our next school-wide Mass. We are very sorry for your loss.
