Richard FRECHETTE Obituary

FRECHETTE, Richard B. "Dick"

Richard B. "Dick" Frechette, 79, of Windsor Locks, CT, husband of the late Jennie Frechette, passed away peacefully on Monday (September 2, 2013). Born in Hartford on September 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Leo and Hazel (Bartlette) Frechette. Dick was a graduate of Weaver High School, class of 1952, and served in the US Army Military Police during the Korean War, and was an avid golfer of near-professional ability. He was married to the love of his life, Jennie Motola, in June, 1953, and settled down in Windsor Locks where they lived happily and raised their four children. Dick worked as an engineer at Royal Typewriter in Hartford for over 25 years. Upon leaving Royal, he started his own package design company, where his creative engineering talents provided him many more years of rewarding work. During these years, he benefited others with his golfing talent as a golf instructor at Browns Harvest in Windsor and as a high school golf coach in Windsor Locks. After Dick lost his beloved Jennie in July, 2007, dedicated himself to charity work, tirelessly assisting people in need, working as a Eucharistic Minister, and volunteering his time and skills to Mount Sinai's "Golfers in Motion" rehabilitation program for the disabled. Dick was a devoted father to his four children who survive him: Richard Frechette and his wife Cathy of Windsor, Michael Frechette and his wife Janet of Suffield, Denise Rousseau and her husband Brian of Enfield, and Laurie Johnson and her husband Michael of Windsor Locks. Dick is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Kimmi, Kara, Caylene, Alyssa, Brenna, Laura, Danny, JJ, Whitney, Stephanie, Brittany, and Justina, and five great-grandchildren, Malcolm, Trent, Gunner, Camryn and Benjamin.
A funeral procession will form on Thursday, Sept. 5th at 9:15 a.m. at The Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks, to travel to St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 52 South Elm St., Windsor Locks, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Windsor Locks. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 4th between 4-8 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to NPH USA, at www.nphusa.org to help provide basic needs - food, clothing, shelter, health care and the education - to the thousands of children in Haiti. We are sadden to hear of the loss of Uncle Dick. We truly wish we could have been in CT for the services. I have so many fond memories of your Dad. He got me a job at Royal Typewriter when I was young. Your dad use to come visit the family often when we were growing up. He was always there for my Mom and I am very grateful for his love shown to her and to all of us. He will truly be missed. Love, Frank and Debbie
