Rita Martin Obituary
Rita (Whitneck) Martin, 84, of Southington, passed away on December 9, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Richard A. Martin Sr. and were married for 64 years. Rita was born on April 1, 1929 in Caribou, ME, and was the daughter of the late James and Inez (Downing) Whitneck. She loved to read and enjoyed crocheting. Rita was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by her four children Dale Martin of Indiana, Richard "Rit" Martin Jr. of Rocky Hill, Craig Martin of Wallingford and Brenda Burns of Georgia, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons Colby and Alan Martin. Rita was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters Louis, Colby and Ralph and Geraldine Knight, Shirley Carpenito and Barbara Baillargeon. The funeral will be held on Friday 9:15am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. to St. Dominic Church, 1050 Flanders St. Southington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 pm. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington is assisting with arrangements. For directions and online condolences visit www.dellavecchiafh.com
