He was our gym teacher and soccer coach in grade seven and eight at Silas Deane Junior High. He was a wonderful coach and person. Glad to see he lived a long and wonderful life. I led one of our gym group and he nicknamed us "Neville's Turning Worms". The last week of gym classes we finally won first place. His comment was "I always knew you worms would turn."

Sam Biafore, almost eleven, is remembering his great grandfather by practicing his lay-up that our 'soaring eagle' taught him.

Coach Burford's family---Sorry to hear of his passing. Had him as a Coach in 1959-1960 in soccer and basketball at Silas Deane Junior High. Besides convincing a group of us that our futures were in Football not soccer, always remember his advice to dry your feet last after showers so you don't spread athlete's foot. That and him trying to teach us Square Dancing in gym class---never could figure out why that was being taught anyway. It was good to see him at a couple of Hall of Fame banquets in recent years.
