JOHNSON, Robert L.
Robert L. Johnson, 82, of Middletown CT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, (October 20, 2013) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. Born on October 29, 1930, to the late Arthur and Germaine Johnson, he grew up in Sanford, Maine. He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Margaret Ruddy Johnson, as well as their three daughters, Elizabeth Johnson and her husband Karl Warner, of Andover, MA, Maureen Johnson and her husband Timothy Howard of Hebron, and Patricia Boyer of Glastonbury, his sister, Dorothy Alexander of Maine, and his good friend, George Boyer of Portland. Bobby was beloved by his seven grandchildren, Colin, Maeve, and Meghan Howard, Alexandra and Jonathan Boyer, and Ava and Emma Warner. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Kathryn Johnson, and three brothers, John, Donald, and Raymond Johnson, all of Maine. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict, after which he relocated to Middletown, where he was a longtime member of St. Pius Church. He retired after more than thirty years as a seventh-grade science teacher primarily at Keigwin Middle School, and as educational director for the Whiting Forensic Hospital in Middletown. While teaching, he met his best friends, the "breakfast club", John, Joe, Ernie and Paul.
In honor of Bob's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Amazing Grace Food Pantry, 16 Stack Street, Middletown, CT 06457, or St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen, 617 Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457. "So long, farewell."

So very sorry to hear about the passing of Uncle Bobby. He was a very special man and I thought about him many times in the past years, even though we didn't see each other. Our thoughts, prayers and love go to you and the whole family, Aunt Peg. Love, Cynthia and husband Skip and family

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of my godfather and uncle. Though I never got to know him well, when I did see him, he was always loving and caring. I will never forget him singing Edelweiss to me as a child. I have sung it to my grandkids in memory of that event. Rest in Peace Uncle Bobby. You are now with your brothers, John, Ray, and Donald as well as your daughter. May God's Blessings be upon your family and give them comfort.
