Robert LaVallee Obituary

Robert "Bob" E. LaVallee, 69 of Stafford, was a cancer survivor and after a courageous battle, he succumbed to complications resulting from Graft-versus-host disease. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Monday, December 2, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Born October 28, 1944 in Springfield MA, Bob was the son of the late Joseph and Cecile (Giroux) LaVallee. Bob was raised in Enfield and on November 8, 1975, he was united in marriage to his bride of 38 years, Eileen Powers. Together they relocated to Stafford in 1987. Bob was employed as a tool manufacturer with Jacobs Vehicle Systems for almost 15 years until his retirement in 2009. He was a man of many trades, but was especially talented with his craftsmanship which showed in the log home he built for his family. Bob was an avid Patriots fan and also enjoyed spending time watching NASCAR. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Eileen; his six children, Todd LaVallee and his wife, Linda, Rodney LaVallee, Tadd LaVallee, Michelle LaVallee, Jeffrey LaVallee and his wife, Kelly, and Christina Clavette and her husband, Chris; his five siblings, the ever loving and devoted Linda and Paul Lukas, Richard LaVallee, Ronald LaVallee, Roger LaVallee, and Denise Smith; his eight grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; many loving brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews; his two furry friends, Molly and Lucy; and his angel, Denise Baldauf, who was his bone marrow donor. Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother Paul LaVallee and his sister Cynthia Prass. Relatives and friends are invited to join in a gathering to celebrate Bob's life at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the convenience of Bob's family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Bob's family, which will be donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institution in his name, would be greatly appreciated. Donations may be made directly to Bob's family or at www.myjimmyfundpage.org/give/Robert_e_LaVallee. For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.somersfuneralhome.com. Robert's family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Dushyant Parikh, Dr. Robert Soiffier and Amy Joyce, APRN, of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institution for the extraordinary care they provided to Bob. The family would also like to thank his sister-in-law, Judy Hayes for her love and support.
