Robert "Bob" Serbin

1943 - 2013

Robert "Bob" J. Serbin, 70, of Southington, beloved husband of Mary Ann (Baranowski) Serbin, entered into eternal life on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in New Britain on Aug. 8, 1943, the son of the late John and Stella (Januskiewicz) Serbin. Bob graduated from New Britain High School in 1961. In his youth he was actively involved in baseball. In his senior year he was awarded the Patrick Borselle award for the most valuable player. Bob was employed by the US Postal Service in New Britain for 29 years. He has resided in Southington for 44 years. He enjoyed spending winters in FL with Mary Ann. In addition to his wife he leaves his brother John and sister-in-law Daina of Lebanon, CT, 2 nephews, Don and Ken Serbin and his brother-in-law Father David Baranowski of Rocky Hill. He also leaves his former sister-in-law Patricia Corona and several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Dec. 20th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. All attending are asked to go directly to church. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. on Thursday, Dec. 19th from 5-7 pm.
