Ruth Jennings Obituary
Ruth S. Jennings, 68, beloved mother and resident of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Hartford Hospital. Ruth was born December 15, 1945 in Hermanville, Mississippi to Ruth Smith and the late Allen Smith. A graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she devotedly educated students in the Chapel Hill (NC) and Windsor Public Schools for nearly 30 years, through the 2012-13 academic year at Windsor High School. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Sinclair Jennings, Jr, Jeanette Jennings and Jared Jennings; brother James Smith; sisters Catherine Perry, Bernice Colbert, and Deloris Brown; nieces Dana (Jeff ) and Amber, and a nephew, Jason. In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a sister, Cora Smith. Visitation hours will be on Friday, December 27, from 4-7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, December 28, 10 a.m. and also held at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, officiated by her Pastor, Mike Shoaf, of Oasis Christian Church. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Windsor. Donations in Ruth's memory may be made to The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, where she served as a volunteer counselor and avid supporter. Our Condolences to you and your family. Jeanette, I just found out about your wonderful Mother passing from a friend at school. Your Mother always had a kind word and smile for everyone. We always talked about God, who she loved. I am grateful I got to know her and you, from Clover School and Windsor High. She will be missed. God Bless all of you. I'm sorry Skip, Netti and Jerod; I didn't know about your mother's passing until the church secretary e-mailed us. I can't express how much your mother (and your family) meant to Dana and myself. She was always a smiling, loving person who loved the Lord and showed it in so many ways in her life. I used to bump into her now and then around town and she always had a way of bringing sunshine into my life. Her sense of humor was awsome and her resilience was an encouragement to many as I know her life was filled with challenges. She will be missed and again I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make the wake and funeral. Please keep in touch.
