Sharon D'Alessandro Obituary

Clemons, NY and Manchester, CT - At age 70 triumphantly entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 20, 2014. She is survived by and married to her first love, David A. D'Alessandro, Sr. whom she met when she was just 13. They have been married for 54 years, and as God wills it, they shall love each other even better after death. Sharon was born in Hartford, CT on February 2, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Robert Hubbard, Jr and the late Myrtle (Moors) Hubbard. She was 3rd of 5 children and is predeceased by her brother, David Allen Hubbard and her sister, Sandra Adams Lindsey. She is survived by her brothers, Robert Hubbard, III and his wife, Sandra and Donald Hubbard and his wife, Regina. She is also survived by her children, Sherry D'Alessandro and her husband, Geri Langlois of Willimantic, David D'Alessandro, Jr. of Coventry and Mark A. D'Alessandro of Manchester. She leaves seven grandchildren: Alesia Deaton; Russell D'Alessandro, Sr, Samuel D'Alessandro; D. Allen D'Alessandro, III, Cherie Langlois, Elizabeth and Lisa D'Alessandro; and 4 great grandsons, Russell, Jr; Memphis, Tyler and Lucas. Her niece, Christine McCarthy; and her nephews; Jim, Clayton and Dan Adams; Bob Hubbard, IV; and Justin, Zachary & Christopher Hubbard. While living in Manchester, Sharon and her husband, Dave, owned and operated Dave's Auto Upholstery for 44 years. She was active as a soldier in the Salvation Army, where she served as Home League Secretary and taught Sunday school. She loved spending time with her family at their camp in Thompson, CT. Upon retiring, Sharon and Dave found heaven on earth in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains in Clemons, NY, between Lake George and Lake Champlain. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and knitting and is especially known for her warm hand-knitted socks, which she made for family and friends. She also loved to cook and was famous for her apple pie and ham puffs. Her favorite verse is from Psalms 118:24 "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it." Not only did she love this verse, she lived it. Even as her days on earth came near to the end, she found reason to rejoice in all things. She looked forward with great anticipation to spending eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. On October 3, 1983, Sharon quit smoking for good, but only after making several failed attempts. She found success in a program through the American Lung Association called "Freedom from Smoking". Sharon would like her personal struggle with smoking to be an encouragement to others, to never give up trying to quit. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if memorial contributions could be made in her name to the American Lung Association. (www.lung.org/donate) Cancer took her body from this earth, but it will never take her eternal life, that shall dwell in the hearts and minds of her friends and family, and in the house of the Lord, forever and ever. Amen and Amen. For friends and family in Connecticut, a celebration of Sharon's life will be held on Saturday, 6/28/14 at 11:00am at the Salvation Army 661 Main Street, Manchester, CT and for friends and family in New York, a celebration will be held on Wednesday, 7/02/14 at 1:00pm at Cornerstone Alliance Church,175 Montcalm Street, Ticonderoga, NY.
