KEGEL, Sophie M.
Sophie M. Kegel, 82, of East Lyme, wife of the late George Kegel, died June 21st with her family by her side. Sophie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Sophie retired from Turbo Products of Ivoryton, was a former deaconess at Grace Presbyterian Church in Spring Hill, FL and a member of the First Congregational Church in Clinton, CT. She was a member of the Elks Club in Florida and enjoyed spending time at the Westbrook Senior Center and the Estuary Senior Center in Old Saybrook. Sophie was an avid Yankees fan and loved her cat Molly. Sophie is survived by a daughter Janet K. Anderson and her husband David of East Lyme, and son David S. Kegel and his wife Joanne of Westbrook; her two grandchildren Jennifer Anderson Crock and her husband Karl of Delaware, and David Anderson Jr. and his wife Amy of Enfield; four great grandchildren, Phillip and Nathan Crock, and Leah and Hailey Anderson; She also leaves behind a sister Judy Butkus and many nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by a son Richard Kegel.
Visitation will be at Swan Funeral Home in Clinton, CT Thursday, June 27 from 5-8p.m. Funeral Service will take place at The First Church of Christ Congregational in Clinton, CT. Friday, June 28 at 10a.m. Burial to follow at Beaver Brook Cemetery in Clinton, CT.
