PIERCE, Stephen
Stephen L. Pierce, 72, of Enfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday (November 6, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital. The son of the late Katherine (Beaulieau) Pierce, Stephen was born in Hartford on January 22, 1941. In 1964, Stephen married his beloved bride, Beverly Murphy, and in 1967 they became permanent residents of Enfield. Stephen proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. Stephen was employed throughout his life with A&P, Waldbaums Food Mart and Big Y and he was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Enfield. Stephen was a car enthusiast and made sure that he kept his vehicles in pristine condition. One of Stephen's more recent celebratory moments was in game six of the World Series when the Boston Red Sox took the title of the 2013 World Champions. Stephen loved his family, was a great father and adored his grandchildren. He leaves behind his son Stephen M. Pierce and his wife, Kimberly of Enfield and their children, Lindsey, Makayla, Landon and one grandson due any moment, in which he was privileged to know his name; his two daughters, Kathleen Blackwood and her husband, Glenn of Enfield and their children Robert, Michael, Alyssa and Jessica and Ann-Marie Pierce of West Hartford and her children Haley and Emily; his significant other, Pauline Lizotte of Chicopee, MA; his sister-in-law Mavis Murphy; many nieces, nephews, family members and friends; and his children's furry friends in which he would say nightly prayers for. Along with his wife, Beverly, who predeceased him in 2003, and his mother, Stephen is preceded in death by his sister Judith Ann Lessor.
Relatives and friends are welcomed to join the family on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 9 a.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd. for a procession to Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Rd., where Stephen's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick King Street Cemetery. As a great supporter, in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that memorial remembrances in Stephen's name be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O Box 50 Memphis, TN 38101-9929. Kathleen, Annie, & Steve,
I just heard of Steve's passing and wanted to send my heartfelt condolences. I wanted you to know that Steve made a huge impact on my life in relation to his work ethic. His work values are being passed on to my own son whose first job is working part-time in the produce dept.at Big Y, as I did at A&P when I was 16. I remember Steve being my first boss that was very tough, but always fair. I have very fond memories and felt like I was part of your family back then. I remember helping Annie with her math homework and doing some repair work on Steve's car. You, your Mom & Dad, will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

Our hearts and prayers are with you all. Steve was a dear friend, the kind you keep forever. We grew up together in Hartford and lived the "Happy Days" life at the Soda Shop and the park. So many happy memories. God bless him, Bev and you all.
