Teddy was a part of our family when I was growing up, but the back story is that Esther and Joan and Ted were a surrogate family for my dad and my mother when they were newlyweds.
My sisters and I always looked forward to Teddy's visits and exotic stories, but most especially to how much he made my parents laugh and how delighted they were to know him and how proud of him they were.
