CHAGNON, Virginia K.
Virginia K. Chagnon, 84, of Windsor Locks and formerly of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Charles Chagnon, passed away peacefully on Friday, (April 19, 2013) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford on August 6, 1928, daughter of the late John and Martha (Hall) Keiper, she had spent most of her life in Windsor before retiring to Polk City, FL in 1997. After spending 14 years in Florida, Virginia moved to Windsor Locks to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Virginia worked for many years at Youth Center Stores and later at Collins & Company in Vernon. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bingo and gambling, making crafts, and solving word jumbles and crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Windsor Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E. #2060, Ladies Auxiliary. She leaves a daughter, Denise G. Barile and her husband Jim of Windsor Locks; a son, Steven Goodrow of Windsor Locks; a brother, Richard Keiper and his wife Muriel of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Heather Drouin and her husband Eric, Brandi Epperson and her husband Larry, and James; and two great grandchildren, Matthew and Kyleigh Drouin. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, John and Edward Keiper.
As Virginia had requested, services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Foundation, Attn: Hospice, 95 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105. Carmon Windsor Funeral Home has care of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit, www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
