William Beckwith Obituary



William C. Beckwith, 60, of Bristol, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. William was born in Bristol on November 27, 1953 and was a son of the late James A. and Bertha M. (Carragher) Beckwith. He was a lifelong Bristol resident and was a Process Engineer at Windsor Airmotive Barnes Group Inc., East Granby. William enjoyed trail rides on his horse majestic and hikes outdoors with his German Shepherd Duke. Mr. Beckwith is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Cara and Jeffrey Vitale, of North Haven; two brothers and a sister-in-law; James Beckwith, of Selma, NC and John and Rosemary Beckwith, of Harwinton; two sisters and a brother-in-law; Jacqueline Fenn, of Terryville and Deanne and John Levesque, of Bristol, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son James A. Beckwith. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, 9 AM from the Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol to St. Gregory Church at 10 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 between 5 and 8 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045. Please visit William's memorial website at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.

You were my closest friend and biggest supporter my entire life. I always knew you would be there no matter if I failed , or flew. You loved me for trying and knowing that you would stand by me regardless meant I never really failed. I love and miss you more than I can express and I promise to take good care of Duke.
I know you're with Jimmy, Grandpa, Grandma, Nanny and Bee along with all the other friends and family we have lost over the years. As sad as this day is for me, its a joyful day for you and I'm thankful for that.

Cara and family,
Bill was a longtime co-worker of mine,but more importantly Bill was my friend and contemporary. Bill was a caring person. This was never more evident when another friend and coworker passed away suddenly at the age of 53 almost 7 years ago. Bill made sure he was the one who got to the hospital so he could be with the family of Pete. Although Bill knew Pete was already gone his main concern was being there in a time of need.I think that he knew we were there for him,just as he had been there for Pete. I could tell whenever I called or the couple of times we visited.
May the good memories you have help sustain you at this difficult time in your life.
