JACKSON, William "Bill" Mills
William "Bill" Mills Jackson, 72, of Enfield, died July 8, 2013 at his home with his devoted wife of 47 years Leah (Thomforde) Jackson at his side. He was born in Hartford on Feb. 17, 1941. He was the son of the late Warren and Olive Jackson. Bill and his identical twin brother Stephen F. Jackson are proud Eagle Scouts and come from a family background of service to others and the community. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Bill worked in the finance department at Delta Industries in East Granby, for 42 years. Despite becoming a paraplegic in the Windsor Locks tornado in 1979, Bill continued working and supporting his family from a wheelchair. He was not deterred from getting out, pursuing his love of woodworking, cheering on the NY Yankees, never missing the football pool at work, and being a friend to all who met him. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Christine and her husband Markus Medak, and Sherry and her husband Timothy Moulton; his brother Stephen and wife Karen Jackson; and his grandchildren, Emily, Kai, Lena and great-grandson Camden. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the visiting nurses and aides who provided excellent care and became close friends during the past three years.
A Memorial service will be held at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Rd., Enfield on Thursday, July 11, at 11 a.m. with a calling hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Enfield Street Cemetery in Enfield.
