William Queen Obituary



William O. Queen, Sr., (Bill, Bud, Doc, Grandad), of Southington, passed away Jan. 22, 2014, at home. He and his wife, Dorothy (Adamik) Queen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November. Born Feb. 23, 1938 in Tapoco, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Howard and Bessie (Williams) Queen. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, William Queen Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Southington, Patty Queen and her partner, Colin Kenniston, of Plainville, and David Queen and his wife, Michelle, of Southington. He also leaves his grandchildren, William Queen III and Alexander Queen. He is predeceased by his brother and best friend, Howard Queen, Jr. He is survived by his brothers, Bobby Queen and his wife, Charlotte, and Harold Queen and his wife, Joan, and his sisters, Birdie Jiguere, Edna Gutierrez and her husband, Carlos, Jobina Cooper, Carol Mott and her husband, Paul, Nancy Fields, and Claudette Plourde, as well as many nieces and nephews. Renowned for his skill refurbishing convertible automobiles, he was the proud owner of Queen's Auto Upholstery of Plainville where he had many friends in the local automotive community. One of his proudest accomplishments was his service to the United States Army as an artillery draftsman. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved everything from fishing mountain creeks to feeding birds in his backyard. The Funeral will be held Monday, Jan. 27th at 11:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to Mary Our Queen Church in Southington at 12 noon. Burial will be at South End Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 26 from 2 - 5pm. For online condolences and directions, please visit www.dellavecchiafh.com.
