SCOTT, William A., Sr.
William A. Scott, Sr., 87, of Coventry, beloved husband of 58 years to Mary C. (Cheney) Scott passed away peacefully August 18, 2013. He was born July 13, 1926 in Holyoke, MA. The son of the late Wallace and Laura (Nimmo) Scott. Besides his wife Mary he is survived by his children; William Scott Jr. and his wife Sylvia of Ashford, Steven and his partner Rebecca Chalifoux of Mansfield and Wendy (Scott) Amash and her husband Paul of Hillsdale, NY; his brother Wallace Scott Jr. and his wife Alba of Clinton, NY; his grandchildren, Stacy, Paul, Jr. and Steven Amash, Christina Amash, Christopher Scott;and his great-grandchildren, Anaiya Taft and Lucy Amash. William served his country in the US Navy, after his discharge he went on to work at Pratt & Whitney for many years where he retired as a foreman in aircraft designs. William was a communicant of the 1st Congregational Church of Coventry for over 50 years. He loved aviation and had a private pilot license to fly private planes. He was a devoted husband and a loving grandfather and he loved his family.
All services will be held privately. Coventry-Pietras Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Williams name can be made to the 1st Congregational Church of Coventry, 1171 Main St, Coventry, CT 06238-3116.
