PANE, Wilson "Wil" Ovidio

Wilson "Wil" Ovidio Pane, 96, died peacefully at Suffield House on Monday, (July 29, 2013), after a short illness. He was a former resident of Glastonbury until 2011 where he resided at Suffield by the River. He was the beloved husband of Erma Olivi Pane, who predeceased him July 31, 2003. Wil was born on April 13, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Perri ) Pane. Wil moved with his family to Hartford where he graduated from Hartford Public High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who proudly served his country during World War II. On June 7, 1975, Wil married the love of his life, Erma. Wil was employed by Pratt and Whitney as a Quality Analyst retiring in 1980. Wil had a love of the outdoors. His love of sailing would find him working on his sailboat docked on the Connecticut shore and his frequent trips to Block Island and long island sound. He was an avid skier and took great pride in teaching others the sport. Wil was a member of the Mountain Laurel Ski Club. Wil is survived by a brother, Vincent Pane, of Glastonbury; and was predeceased by his brothers, Ernest, Guido, Claudio and William Pane and his sisters, Alyce Burnes and Josephine Abare. He also leaves his and Erma's daughter at heart, Sandra Sickman, her husband, Ed and the boys, Derek, Jeremy and Nicholas. His family would like to thank Dr. Parikh, the staff 2nd floor Johnson Memorial Hospital and Suffield House for the care and compassion they extended to Wil.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. A memorial mass honoring his life will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT.
