Wojciech "Walter" Nawrot

Wojciech "Walter" Nawrot, 86, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 56 years of Mary Victoria (Stanek) Nawrot, passed away on Sunday, (December 15, 2013) surrounded by his family at his home. Born in Szczakowa, Poland on August 31, 1927, son of the late Leon and Dorota (Radziuk) Nawrot, he was raised in Poland, had immigrated to Hartford in 1947, and had lived in Wethersfield since 1978. Walter worked for the West Hartford Public Schools for many years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of P.A.V.A. Post #119 in Hartford and he was a longtime parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church in Hartford. As a young man, Walter enjoyed playing soccer and in later years he enjoyed sketching, especially landscape scenes, and gardening around his home. Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Anna Barbara Orzechowski and Alice Christine Nawrot both of Wethersfield; and three grandchildren, Kamila, Susannah, and Christopher. He was predeceased by four brothers, Karol, Kazimierz, Wladyslaw, and Tadeusz Nawrot; and a sister, Zofia Zakrzewska. A Memorial Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, December 19, 11 a.m., at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 63 Popieluszko Court, Hartford. Burial will be in St. Jozef Cemetery, Pstragowa, Poland. His family has requested that memorial donations be made to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford, CT 06106.
