Albert Delisser Airey Obituary


Albert (Amiri) Delisser Airey passed on May 23, 2014 at the West Haven Veterans' Hospital. Albert was born in Kingston, Jamaica on June 12, 1955 and migrated to the United States in 1962. He was the fourth child of Clariana and Narciso Airey. He joined the Navy in 1973 and served for two years before returning to Hartford and pursuing his passions for theater and the arts at Manchester Community College. Albert was preceded in death by his mother Clariana Airey and his brother Carlton. He is survived by his father, Narciso Airey; sisters Doreen, Veronica and Phyllis; his adored children Zaike and Zuri; childhood friend Eloy; spiritual brother Raul; dear friend Jacqueline and her son Taino. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends. The Homegoing will be held Thursday June 5 at Henry L. Fuqua Funeral Home, 94 Granby St., Bloomfield, CT, where family and friends will gather from 10 AM to 12 noon to share expressions of love for a life well lived. The funeral will follow at 12 noon. Burial following at Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery Bloomfield, CT. You are encouraged to wear white, bright or Afrocentric clothes. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Albert's name to The Artists Collective (Hartford), The Curtis D. Robinson Men's Health Instuitue, (Hartford), the Sankofa Kuumba Cultural Arts Consortium (Hartford), the Queen Ann Nzinga Center (New Britain) or TheaterWorks (Hartford).
