Allen Louis Jones Sr., 97, of Unionville, beloved husband of Phyllis C. Jones, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 4th. Born January 5, 1917 in Westfield, MA, he was the son of the late Irving and Ruth (Tingley) Jones. Allen joined the US Army on October 17, 1941, serving 3 years, 8 months, and 10 days. As a member of the First Armored Division (Old Ironsides), he participated in the liberation of North Africa and Italy. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal and the European/African/Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon. Prior to retiring, Allen worked for Plainville Casting Company for 35 years. In addition to his wife of 66 years, Allen leaves behind the following family members, his daughter, Alana Jones Baranoski and her husband David, his son, Allen Louis Jr., and his wife Michelle, his daughter, Sandra Jones Rogala and her husband Allen, his grandchildren, Jeremy David Baranoski and his wife Fumiko Ishikawa, Allen Louis Jones III, Owen Patrick Jones, Allen Louis Rogala and his wife Donna, Peter Rogala and his wife Erin and his great grandchildren, Oscar Shota Ishikawa Baranoski, Colton Rogala and Luke Rogala. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday (Feb. 7) from 1:00-2:00pm. Funeral services will be held in The Ahern Funeral Home at 2:00pm with Fr. George Roberts, Rector of St. James Parish, Farmington officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Southern New England Division 855 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT 06105.
