BOVI, Anthony "Tony"
Anthony "Tony" Bovi, 81, of East Hartford, loving husband of 57 years of Lina (DeCesare) Bovi, passed away peacefully on Saturday, (August 4, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. Born in Bristol on Nov. 12, 1930, a son of the late Giuseppe and Yolanda (Morgia) Bovi, he had been a resident of East Hartford for the past 52 years. A graduate of Bristol Central High School, Class of 1948, Anthony was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korea War. Anthony was a Computer Technician for over 30 years, retiring from the UNISYS Corporation. He was an avid gardener (especially of tomatoes and roses) and was a talented handyman who enjoyed fixing various items around his home. He was a communicant of St. Rose Church, East Hartford, and a member of the former Italian-American Club, East Hartford and of the B.P.O. E. Lodge #1893 of Manchester. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Monckton and Victoria Bovi both of Bristol. Along with his beloved wife, Lina, Anthony is survived by two sons, Joseph Bovi and his wife, Donna, of Needham, MA, Ernest Bovi and his wife, Dianna, of Centerville, MA; three daughters, Marisa Adams and her husband, James, of Manchester, Lora Frascarelli and her husband, Jack, of South Windsor, Yolanda Pruneau and her husband, Mark, of South Windsor; a sister, Anna Bouchard and her husband, Arthur, of Key West, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Anthony was also the proud Poppy to his eleven special grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, and Kayla Adams, Nick and Maddie Bovi, Leah and Anthony Frascarelli, Raeann Woytowicz, Danica, Skyler, and Nicolette Pruneau; and one great-grandchild, Koby Woytowicz.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Aug. 9 at 9 a.m. from the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter St., East Hartford with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Rose Church, 33 Church St., East Hartford. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Terryville Avenue, Bristol. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, Aug. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Anthony's name may be made to the Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association, 10520 W.
