Anthony J. Castellani Obituary

Anthony "Tony" J. Castellani, 84, of Avon, beloved husband to Felicia (Kancler) Castellani, passed away, Saturday, July 26, 2014. Born in Avon, son of the late Jack and Esola (Zanolli) Castellani, where he was a life-long resident. From a young age, Tony was always a hard and diligent worker tending to the family chicken farm, caddying and doing odd jobs. He later became an apprentice carpenter establishing important skills he would use throughout his career. He graduated from Canton High School then later served in the US Army during the Korean War. Returning back to his hometown of Avon, he began his career as a building contractor with his brother Bernard. He built fine homes in Avon and Simsbury known today for their high quality of workmanship. He was an avid golfer and long time member of the Golf Club of Avon and the Prince Thomas of Savoy Society. Besides his wife Felicia, he leaves a son David J. Castellani and his wife Helen; a daughter Beth A. Castellani of Efland, NC; a sister Joan Volg of Avon; a brother Bernard Castellani of Winchester; and two grandchildren Rebecca J. and Michael A. Castellani. A son Robert A. Castellani predeceased him. His family will receive friends Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 5-8 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family and friends may gather Friday, August 1, 2014 9:15 AM at Carmon's followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon.
