Barbara Ann Barenz, 72, of Bloomfield CT, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2014. Barbara was born on April 11, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Faye (Lovaglio) Girimonti. Barbara grew up in Massapequa, NY, attended high school at Queen of the Rosary Academy in Amityville, NY, and Claremont College, NY. Barbara is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband of 52 years, Harold Barenz, brother Stephen Girimonti and sister-in-law Angel of Windsor Connecticut, son Jeffrey Barenz and wife Darlene of Potomac Falls Virginia, daughter Jennifer Schmid of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and grandchildren, Nicholas Barenz, Morgan Schmid, Brandon Barenz and Christopher Schmid. Her biggest passion was her family where she found delight, inspiration and endless joy. Barbara was predeceased by her brother John Girimonti. Barbara began her career in 1961 at International Laytex, then worked at Indiana University, and then spent 26 years committed to the Bloomfield Board of Education. Barbara was very involved with her grandchildren's activities and also very committed to student activities at Bloomfield High School. After retirement Barbara was a volunteer in the Bloomfield Community which included, the Visual and Performing Arts Program, Senior Center, Food Share, Sacred Heart Church and was recently elected to the Bloomfield Commission on Aging. A Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31st at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Avenue Bloomfield at 10:00am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday evening from 5pm-8pm at Sacred Heart Church.
