CARACENI, Barbara (Bruno)

Barbara (Bruno) Caraceni, 74, beloved wife of Joseph Caraceni of West Hartford, died on August 8, 2012. Born in Bronx, NY, the daughter of the late Raymond and Aurora (Silvagni) Bruno, she made her home in West Hartford for almost 40 years. Barbara graduated from Mt. St. Ursula, Bronx, NY, attended Our Lady of Mercy College, NY. She worked as a real estate agent in the West Hartford area for over 30 years. Her passion for music led her to become a founding member and president of the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra and a loyal patron of The Hartford Opera. She was an avid bridge player, playing with numerous groups, a member of the Hartford Bridge Club reaching the rank of Regional Master. She was dedicated to her Catholic faith and became a Eucharistic Minister. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she will be missed by all. Besides her husband of 54 years, she is survived by her two children, Thomas Caraceni and his wife Leslie of Framingham, MA, Cynthia Retallick and her husband Richard of West Hartford; her grandchildren, Amanda, Joseph, Andrew, Elizabeth, Tristan and Jake; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Adrian and Roberta Caraceni, Barbara and Ron Hawes, Rosanna Caraceni and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Joanne Marra and her brother Raymond Bruno.
The funeral will be Saturday, August 11, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter Claver Church, 47 Pleasant St., West Hartford. A reception will follow in the parish center. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Palliative Care at Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour St., Hartford, CT 06102.
