Bernie was born on Sept. 11, 1951 in Hartford and grew up making memories in Farmington where he played his saxophone with the Farmington Valley Orchestra, and pitched a fierce game of baseball. In Canton, he continued playing his sax, and pitching into his young adult years. He worked from a young age leaving us to admire, and learn from his amazing work ethic. The majority of his career was devoted to Northeast Utilities. He was an avid reader on all subjects with his favorite book being Einstein. He was a sports fan, and loved watching the Giants, Red Sox's and the UConn Huskies. He had so much wisdom to impart, we learned about life, having a passion for politics and the value of relationships. He enriched us with his stories and conversation. Bernie was a selfless, kind soul dedicated to caring for those he loved. He was surrounded by wonderful neighbors who were especially supportive in his final weeks. He will be remembered warmly by friends, neighbors and family as a man of strength and character, who bore his challenges with grace and dignity. He made the lives of those he touched richer and we are all blessed to have had him in our lives.
