David Kingston Obituary

KINGSTON, David E. David Evans Kingston died Monday, (September 14, 2009) in New Haven from injuries sustained in a fall. He was born February 23, 1960 in Norwalk to Sally E. Kingston and Douglas P. Kingston Jr., then of New Canaan. He graduated from Gilman School in Baltimore, MD (1978) and Hampshire College in Amherst, MA (1982). David had over 20 years of experience in quality control inspection in the construction industry, specializing in bridges and steel structures and was a member of the American Welding Society and NACE International. David was the first president of the VFW Men's Auxiliary in Old Saybrook, and member and past president of the John Sobieski III Club in Deep River. He was admired for his fundraising and organizational skills, his attention to detail, and ability to see projects through to completion. Outside of his professional and volunteer work, David enjoyed boating, sailing, golf, cooking and eating good food. He is survived by his brothers: Douglas P. Kingston III of London, England and Thomas H. Kingston of Baltimore, MD; former wife, Verna O'Donnell, and two daughters, Lauren and Annie Kingston of Deep River. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 2 p.m. in the VFW Hall, 315 Essex Road, Old Saybrook, with refreshments to follow. Please, no flowers. A fund for his children's education has been established in David's memory. Contributions may be sent to the Kingston Educational Fund, c/o Essex Savings Bank, P.O. Box 950, Essex, CT 06426. Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Dave worked with me in 1978-1979, running sound and lights. He was the house soundman at the Rusty Nail Inn for awhile. Bless you all who knew him and treasure his memory. -Jon
