Dominick "Doc" Gennaro Arienzale, 85, of Wethersfield and formerly Hartford, beloved husband for 55 years of Elizabeth (Kennison) Arienzale, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday (July 8, 2014). He was born in Hartford on May 16, 1929. His family lived on Front Street and relocated to the South End of Hartford, where he lived for many years before relocating to Wethersfield in 1971. Dominick was a 1947 graduate of Bulkeley High School, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Morse College and the University of Hartford. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1952-1953 with the 101st Airborne Division at Camp Breckinridge, KY. Dominick was a certified internal auditor who spent 40 years with the State Auditors of Public Accounts. He retired in 1992 as Deputy State Auditor. He was a member of the Hartford Retreat League, the Newington chapter of UNICO, the American Legion, the National Rifle Association and was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of both St. James Church, Rocky Hill and Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. In addition to his devoted wife Elizabeth, Dominick is survived by his four children, Melanie (Arienzale) Lovelace and husband Nicholas, Marie Arienzale, Gina (Arienzale) Perusse and Gennaro "Jerry" Arienzale and wife Kimberly; four adored grandchildren, Christine (Perusse) Brush and husband Corey, Christopher Lovelace, Catherine (Lovelace) Franceschi and husband Fernando and Lauren Arienzale, as well as a host of cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his father, Pietro Arienzale; his sister, Antoinette Arienzale and his mother, Carmela (DiBenedetto) Arienzale. Sincerest thanks to the chaplains of St. Mary's Church in Newington, St. James Church in Rocky Hill, Corpus Christi and the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Waterbury. The family also wishes to thank all at Hartford Hospital, Jefferson House in Newington and Maple View Health & Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Hill for their compassionate care that led Dominick back home for his family to continue caring for him. Special thanks to the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care of Meriden who guided us through this process. Dominick was one-in-a-million and will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He always put others before himself. He was generous with his time for family and friends and he had a wonderful sense of humor. He will remain in our hearts forever. Dominick's family wishes everyone to know that not only was it a privilege and honor to compassionately care for him; it was also the greatest blessing we received. We come from God, we return to God.
