Doreen E. (Agostinelli) Hollister, 65, of Coventry, formally of Tolland, passed away on July 15, 2014 surrounded by family at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved wife of Gary B. Hollister for 45 years. Together they ran Hollister Plumbing and Heating. Doreen was born in Riverdale, New York on March 8, 1949 to Teresa Dufour (Clarence) of Vernon and the late Rolando Reno Agostinelli (Virginia) of Pittsfield, ME, formally of Vernon. Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter Heather L. Bihlmeyer and husband Richard of Newington and her son Timothy Hollister and his wife Joy of Middletown. She also leaves behind her beloved granddaughter Rachel M. Bihlmeyer of Newington, her dog Daisy, and grand dogs Jasmine and Tonka. She is also survived by her siblings Ronald Agostinelli of Vernon, Richard Agostinelli (Sharon ) of East Hampton and Laura McClellan ( Robert) of Willington, as well as, brother-in-law Dale Hollister of Manchester and sister-in-law Paula Hollister of Vernon. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family. Doreen was predeceased by her brother-in-law David Hollister of Vernon and sister-in-law Patricia Delorme of Vernon. Doreen loved spending timewith family and took pride in being perfectly put together even on the days she was ill. Doreen looked forward to their trips to Florida, particulary Disney. While there, she enjoyed visiting Earl and the late Claire Hollister along with their extended family. She also enjoyed her close friendship with Elaine Lerch of Coventry. Everywhere Doreen went people were drawn to her. She easily carried on conversations with people she just met. Doreen was truly a shining star to everyone. The family would like to thank the staff at Windham Hospital, LIfe Star, The Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven, Dr. Sznol and staff of Yale New Haven, and Connecticut Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for her. A memorial service will be held at the South Methodist Church at 1226 Main St., Manchester, Ct. at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 26, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Smilow Cancer Hospital Foundation Closer To Free, P.O. Box 7611, New Haven, Ct. 06519 or online at www.giveclosertofree.org or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Branford, Ct. 06405. Although Doreen had a genetic version of Melanoma, the family still urges everyone to get yearly skin checks by their Dermatologist.
