FARLEY, Dorothy Ann
Dorothy Ann Farley, 82, of Windsor, died December 30, 2012, due to complications from a broken heart, five weeks after the passing of her husband James. She was born and raised in Bronx, NY to the late Frank Heffernan and Nora "Peggy" Brady. She attended grammar school at Our Lady of Angels, where her love affair with James began. They were married 59 years. Dorothy started her career as an Executive Administrative Assistant at Cosmopolitan Magazine in NY. She married and lived in New Milford, NJ, where she had four of her seven children. She then moved and lived in Windsor for the past 52 years. She was a devoted mother and accomplished seamstress. She went back to work full-time at the University of Hartford in 1978, as an Executive Administrative Assistant, until her retirement in 2003. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Nancy J. and Paul Adams of Barkhamsted, Ellen and Armand Levasseur of Windsor Locks, Susan and John Beatty of East Granby, Diane and Rick Beckerman of Avon, Jim and Lauren Farley of East Granby, Kevin and Shaundra Farley of Windsor; and son-in-law, Robert Geffert of Windsor. She leaves behind her adored grandchildren, Greg his wife Danielle, Tim and Brianne Levasseur, Shannon, Jack, and Morgan Beatty, Mary, Haleigh, and Jack Beckerman, Sydney Farley, Maggie and Ryan Farley. Also a special great-granddaughter, Lily Levasseur. She was predeceased by her daughter, JoAnn Farley Geffert. She leaves behind a brother, Frank of Mahwah, NJ; and a sister, Eileen of Hutchinson Island, FL , and many loving nieces and nephews. She says farewell to her life-long friends Ann and Ed MacMaster and Jim and Eileen O'Shaughnessy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor. Funeral Services will be held in the Carmon Chapel on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013 at 12 p.m. Burial will follow next to her beloved husband James in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
