FONTANELLA, Dorothy
Dorothy Fontanella, of Meriden, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2012, after a short battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Meriden, Dorothy was born on July 12, 1925, the youngest of the six children of the late John and Jennie (Toscani) Fontanella. Dorothy graduated from Meriden High School and held several jobs until her retirement, the longest of which was 26 years with Connecticut Bank and Trust in the loan department. Dorothy was an independent woman who enjoyed spending time with her family. The "little ones" always brought a smile to her face. She had a great memory for all of the "silly" things her nieces and nephews did and said as they grew through the years. She leaves to mourn her passing, her brother Tulio and his wife Claire Fontanella and her nieces and nephews, Donna and John Valli, Denise and Michael Kaczorowski, Joan and John Fidler, Judy and Richard Dickinson, Mark and Joan Fontanella and Jack and Jenna Fontanella. She also leaves several grandnieces and grandnephews: James and Jessica Valli, Ann, Amanda and Ashley Valli, Amy and Kevin Romanchuck, Lauren Kaczorowski, Jack and Jeffrey Fidler, Christopher, Kevin and Jill Dickinson, and Leah, Dylan and Tulio Fontanella , great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews: Faith, Konnor, Devon, Chelsea, Ella, Avery-Jean, Genevieve, Kyle and Quinn, her great, great-grandniece Gabriella, and several cousins. Dorothy was predeceased by her sisters Rena Fontanella and Vilma Valli as well as her brothers Primo and Alfred Fontanella.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, and at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass.
