FENTON, Edward J., Sr.

Edward J. "Papa" Fenton, Sr., 79, of East Hartford, passed away and went to find his late wife of 46 years, Arlene (Mancuso) Fenton, on Saturday, (February 2, 2013) after a brief illness. Born in Hartford on September 26, 1933, a son of the late George and Helen (Hansen) Fenton, he had resided in East Hartford for the past 70 years. "Papa" was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a wallpaper hanger for fifty years. He was an avid loyal New York Yankees fan who enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, bowling, and playing "scratch" lottery tickets. Most of all, he loved being a proud papa to his six grandchildren and one great-grandson. Besides his beloved wife and parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Valerie Fenton of East Hartford, and two brothers, Charles Fenton of Bolton, Francis Fenton of East Hartford. Papa is survived by two sons, Ed Fenton of East Hartford, Brion M. Fenton and his wife, Christy, of East Hartford; a brother, Jack Fenton in Maryland; six special grandchildren, Jennifer Eason, Matthew Eason, Nicholas Fenton, Brandon Young, Rebecca Fenton, and Christopher DiLeo; one adored great-grandson, Logan Mounce; his former daughter-in-law, Deborah Fenton; and several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edward's name may be made to the Helen & Harry Gray Cancer Center, 80 Seymour Street, P.O. Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
