
CARUSO, Eleanor D.
Eleanor D. Caruso, 92, of Bloomfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday (July 17, 2012) at St. Mary's Home in West Hartford. Eleanor was born in Torrington on June 16, 1920, daughter of the late Abraham and Edna Dablain. A 64-year resident of Bloomfield, Eleanor was a founding member of the Bloomfield Women's Club and the Bloomfield Knights of Columbus Women's Auxiliary. She was a talented hairdresser who worked in her profession for many years both as an artist and instructor at the Connecticut Institute of Hair Designs. An active parishioner of both Christ the King Church and Sacred Heart Church, she was a faithful communicant who generously gave of her time and talents to various ministries within the parishes. Eleanor believed in helping others and spent countless hours volunteering at Immigration Naturalization Ceremonies and at St. Francis Hospital. She honorably served as past Hartford Area Coordinator of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital fundraising efforts and past Co-Chair of the Archbishop's Ball. Eleanor leaves two sons, Nicholas D. Caruso, Jr. and Ann Caruso of Bloomfield and Dablain N. Caruso and Virginia Paquette of Suffield; four grandchildren, Kristen, Erin, Meyonna, and Nina Caruso; and two great-grandchildren, Xavier Cruz and Hailey Champagne. She also leaves two sisters-in-law, Elsie and Mary Dablain; numerous nieces and nephews, and members of the Baio and Rondinone families. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Nicholas D. Caruso and by two brothers, Albert and Charles Dablain.
Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. TODAY at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave. in Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., in Bloomfield with burial following at Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield.
