TAYLOR, Eleanor Frances
Eleanor Frances Taylor, 97, of Simsbury, wife of the late Frank Davis Taylor, died Friday, November 2, 2012 at McLean in Simsbury. She was born January 26, 1915 in Attleboro, MA, daughter of the late John Francis and Gertrude R Smith and had lived in West Hartford for more than 20 years prior to moving to Simsbury 35 years ago. Mrs. Taylor was Retreat Secretary at the Holy Family Monastery in Farmington for 15 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Simsbury and devoted much of her time caring for her large extended family. Eleanor's sewing skills were extraordinary and she fashioned and altered many garments including coats and wedding gowns for family members. She is survived by her son, Frank Taylor of West Hartford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Scott Mitchell of Bloomfield Hills, MI and Phyllis and David Sousa of Torrington; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ann Smith of Mclean, VA; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary F. Taylor, four brothers Philip, Edward, John and Alfred Smith, three sisters Margaret Smith, Janet Fitzgerald and Claire Cravero and a great grandson, Spencer C. Mitchell. There are no calling hours.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 17, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 942 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury. Private burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford.
