Obituary Condolences

ALSBAUGH, Elizabeth (Brinton) Elizabeth (Brinton) Alsbaugh, 87, passed peacefully away at Manchester Hospital on Wednesday, (March 23, 2005) from complications from congestive heart failure. She was born in Hartford on April 8, 1917, the younger of two daughters of the late Samuel M. and Alice (Thomas) Brinton and was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Alsbaugh, in February of 1987. Betty graduated from Weaver High School in 1936, and went on to attend Dean Academy and Junior College. In her early twenties she began a long career with The Travelers Insurance Company, leaving to start her family with the birth of her two sons, Jeffrey W. born in 1948 and Roger W. born in 1950. Elizabeth returned to the Travelers in the mid 60's and worked hard to advance. She was a strong proponent for women's rights and women in the work place, and was Chief Contract Underwriter in the Group Law Department when she retired. Elizabeth is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey W. Alsbaugh and Roger W. Alsbaugh, both of Glastonbury. She is also survived by her sister, Marjorie Whitmore; her nephew, George Whitmore and his wife Carole, their daughter and son-in-law Holly and Bruce Faria, and their daughter, Jessica. A gathering to remember our mother and good friend to many will be held on Wednesday, March 30, from 7-8:15 p.m. at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury. Burial will be private. Rather than flowers, a contribution to your favorite charity would be appreciated. "Diz" as her good friend, June called her would want people to educate, participate, VOTE, and contact your representatives.
