Elizabeth G. "Betty Ann" AMBROSI Obituary

AMBROSI, Elizabeth G. "Betty Ann"

Elizabeth G. "Betty Ann" Ambrosi, of Bloomfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, (August 8, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Hartford the oldest child of the late E. Clayton Gengras and Elizabeth (Hutchins) Gengras. Betty Ann was a graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York. She was a dedicated teacher at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford. As a member of the Junior League of Hartford, she helped establish the Clothes Horse of West Hartford. As a single working mother of five children, she took great pride working as the manager of the Cheer Cupboard at St. Francis Hospital for 20 years. Betty Ann was an avid golfer and found great joy in knitting prayer shawls for the terminally ill. She was involved in many charitable, civic, and religious organizations. Her true love was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest gift was that she was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her kindness towards others was felt by all who had the pleasure of meeting her. She is survived by her five children, Peter Grinsfelder, Clayton Kilbourn, Elizabeth Davidson and her husband Robert, Gregory Grinsfelder and his wife Heidi and Jeffery Grinsfelder. She was the proud grandmother of Amy, Gregory, Michael, Malcolm, and great grandmother of Rylum and Peyton. She also leaves her sister Merrily Moynihan and brothers Skip, Guy, John, Richard, Mark, Robert and Joel Gengras, her half sister Joan Gorman and many nieces and nephews. She was recently predeceased by her sister Judith McDonough. She will remain in our hearts forever and be deeply missed.
The Celebration of her Life will be Monday (Aug. 13) at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main St., West Hartford. There are no calling hours.
