Dr.  Eugene F. Lawlor III Obituary

Dr. Eugene F. Lawlor III, 82, of Farmington, formerly of Burlington, beloved husband of Marianne (DiRenzo) Lawlor, died peacefully Saturday, March 22, at John Dempsey Hospital after a long illness. A graduate of Boston College, he later graduated from New York Medical College with high honors, served his residency at Connecticut Valley Hospital and Yale University. After his residency Dr. Lawlor opened his private practice in New Britain and was the Chief of the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at New Britain General Hospital where he was a prominent psychiatrist for 30 years and was beloved by his many patients. After closing his private practice, Dr. Lawlor served as a psychiatric clinician in Lumberton, North Carolina. Dr. Lawlor was a lifetime member of the APA, the Hartford County Medical Association and CSMS. He was very proud of having served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy during the early 60's. A fun loving individual with a great sense of humor, he was a car and plane enthusiast and an avid skier who loved Vermont. He especially loved entertaining his many friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Marianne, his sister Gertrude Williamson, his dear friends Dr. and Mrs. Mehadin Arafeh and their children, Gerry and Millie Citron of NY, step-daughters Carol Mehl and husband Phil, Diane Sasportas and his four grandchildren; Philip, Lauren, Kelsey and Jacob and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Thursday, (Mar. 27th) from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Friday, (Mar. 28th) at 9:15 a.m. followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon with full military honors.
