Evelyn BRODEUR Obituary

BRODEUR, Evelyn Wallis Evelyn Wallis Brodeur (Grandma B) passed away on Monday, (April 5, 2010) at the Highlands Health Care Center in Cheshire. Evelyn was born on May 2, 1909 in Waterbury, CT the daughter of John William and Sarah Cobley Dwyer Wallis. She was the widow of Armand A. Brodeur Sr. who passed away in 2003. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters, Ester Dwyer, Alma Wallis and a brother, John William Wallis. Evelyn was raised in Waterbury and moved to Cheshire in 1962. She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn B. Michaud and her husband John of Cheshire and a son, Armand A. Brodeur Jr. and his wife Barbara Fisherman Brodeur of Naugatuck. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren, Heather M. Kulenski and her husband Stanley of Cheshire, Steven Michaud of Cheshire, Christopher Michaud and his wife Sharon Clapp of Wolcott, Melanie Zamojski and her husband David of Turners Falls, MA, Barbara B. Santos and her husband Leonard of Naugatuck, Lisa B. Silverglade and her husband Joshua of Litchfield and Jeffrey Farren and his wife Kerrey of Kittery, ME. She is also survived by Diane Michaud widow of the late John William Michaud, Evelyn's oldest grandson. Evelyn also has 12 great-grandchildren, Elisabeth and Sarah Anne Kulenski, Alexander Michaud, Meghan and Brian Zamojski, Lisa and Alexandra Santos, Lily and Joshua Silvergade and Jermiah, Brian, Ashley and Daniel Farren. Evelyn leaves two special cousins, Ethel Sibold of Cheshire and John Dubuque of Milford. Evelyn was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Cheshire as well as the Cheshire Women's Club, Cheshire Historical Society, Circus Fans Association of America and the former advisor to the Cheshire Junior Women's Club. History and genealogy were passions of Evelyn's. Her memories of early times in Waterbury and in the state were documented and spoken about to many groups and individuals. Evelyn was not only a wise and devoted mother to her family but became "Mommy Evelyn" to family members and friends throughout the Waterbury area and in many states. Evelyn was very proud of her English ancestry and could relate stories from her earliest memories. She enjoyed her many collections, babysitting for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn had a gift of making the world a better place for each person she came in contact with. The family wishes to thank the nurses, aides and staff of the Highland Health Care Center for the many years of devoted love and care for Evelyn. She loved all of them dearly. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, April 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 59 Main Street, Cheshire, CT. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Alderson Funeral Home, South Main Street Cheshire on Wednesday evening, April 7, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 59 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.

I have several good memories of Mrs. Brodeur not the least of which is at the wedding of my daughter Sharon Clapp to her grandson Christopher Michaud.
