F. Lorence Larson

LARSON, F lorence Florence G. Larson passed away on Thursday (August 30th, 2007). She was born on August 7, 1912, to Lloyd W. and Bernice E. Greene. She graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Interior Design. It was here that she met her first husband and the father of her four children, Charles E. Butterfield II. She became involved at an early age in the DAR and also was extremely active in the Eastern Star, attaining the office of Worthy Grand Matron and serving the organization for many years. She was a member of First Congregational Church of Watertown for 68 years. Florence was also a highly successful Avon Lady and received many awards for sales. She enjoyed drawing and painting—passing on many of her works to friends and family. Florence raised her family in Watertown and moved to Thomaston where she resided for many years. She spent her final years as a resident of Ashlar Village in the Masonic Complex in Wallingford, and was very happy in her cottage residence there. She was predeceased by her sister, Alice, and her husbands, C.E. Butterfield II, Walter Hall, and David Larson. She leaves to mourn her passing her four children, Bernice Edberg of Walnut Creek, CA, Thomas F. Butterfield II and his wife Helen of Windsor, Nancy Flammia of Thomaston, and David Butterfield of Ocala, FL. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as many friends. She will be sorely missed by all those whom she touched during her lifetime. Special thanks to Comfort Obeng, who provided continuous care during Florence's last days and to VNA Hospice in Wallingford. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street, Watertown. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Samuel Dexter from First Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to VNA Hospice, 33 North Plains Industrial Rd., Wallingford 06492.
