ZAJAC, Frank J.
Frank J. Zajac, 87, Rockfall, beloved husband of the late Virginia (Kozlowsky) Zajac, passed away peacefully Thursday, (November, 29, 2012) at the Wiess Hospice Unit of Middlesex Hospital. He was born in Rockfall, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Stefanowicz) Zajac. Frank was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was a foundry worker for Wilcox Crittenden. He was a member of the K club, the VFW and St. Colman Church. Frank is survived by two sons, Gregory F. Zajac and his wife Laura of Rocky Hill and Paul F. Zajac and his wife Susan of Higganum; two brothers. Stanley Zions of Middletown and Walter Zajac of Baltimore, MD; four grandchildren, Joseph Zajac and his significant other Suzie Michel, Jonathan Zajac of Dover, NH, Michelle Strycharz and her husband Paul of Coventry, and Dale Zajac and his wife Cheryl of Portland; four great-grandchildren, Stanley and Eva Mae Strycharz and Caleb and Zoe Zajac and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Edward Zajac and John Zions and a sister Shirley Mariotti. Frank's family would like to thank the staff of the 4th floor and the hospice unit of Middlesex Hospital for the care and compassion shown to them and Frank.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Liturgy, in St. Colman Church, Middlefield. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Portland. Friends may call at the Biega Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent Weiss Hospice Unit c/o Dept. of Philanthropy, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457 or to the Lung Cancer Alliance, PO Box 418372, Boston, MA 02241-8372.
