Gale Powers Obituary
Gale Rice Powers, 95, formerly of Newington, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2014 in Hartford. Born on May 28, 1919 in Worcester, MA, Gale was the daughter of the late Allan Gale Rice and Ruth Willey Bartlett and the wife of the late Foster C. Powers. She graduated from Bates College in 1941 and received a Master's in Education from the University of Hartford in 1960. Gale was a Spanish Teacher at Conard High School in West Hartford for many years, retiring in 1980. She enjoyed square dancing and spending summers at her late husband's family farm in North Chester, MA. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, July 1st, from 10-11 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, with funeral services following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at Newington Memorial. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester, MA. A special thank you to the staff of Avery Heights in Hartford for caring for Gale and treating her like family over the past several years. Gale may have been small in size but, her heart was as big as the farm she and Foster had owned in N. Chester.
i had the privilege of their friendship and miss them, dearly.
